Review TM Forum dtw ignite, Xygelei & Xyna 10.5

Xyna Bulletin #24

Dear friends, partners, and customers of Xyna,

Summertime is reading time – and even though many of you are probably currently on your hopefully well-deserved vacation, we'd like to give everyone at their desks a brief review of the TM Forum dtw conference. We also offer a first look at the upcoming Xyna version 10.5.

Enjoy reading!

Best regards from Mainz,

Philipp

TM Forum dtw ignite! 2025: Review

Anyone who followed our LinkedIn channels in June was able to get a quick overview of the conference and trade fair.

dtw25

For the interested reader of the Bulletin newsletter, here are the key points:

  • For GIP & Xyna, this year's dtw ignite! was the most successful trade fair participation in the last 20 years. Sure... that's easy to write. But we've never had so many good conversations at the booth and so much follow-up activity as this year.
  • The reason for this success was clearly our participation in the Catalyst project "Broadband as a Service". The Catalyst kiosk was well attended throughout, generating a lively exchange between our own booth (Xyna out-of-the-box) and the Catalyst project: Xyna live in action for the ODA components Product Order Capture & Validation, Product Order Management (POM), Service Order Management (SOM), Service Catalog Management (SCM), Service Qualification Management (SQM), and Service Inventory Management (SIM).
  • Together with Karsten Thon (Deutsche Telekom) and Dominik Pacewicz (Amartus), Alexander presented the results and application context of the Catalyst project in the Innovation Arena.
  • Even before the trade fair (Day 0), Alexander, Patrik Farkas (Vodafone), and Carlos Rodrigues (Comarch) were guests at the exclusive TM Forum Board Executive Dinner. Of the more than 50 Catalyst projects, only 8 were invited—namely, those with potentially high business impact. So less ivory tower, more real business. The board for the "Composable IT & Ecosystems" area includes Laurent Donnay (SVP Chief Engineering Officer Deutsche Telekom), Scott Petty (Group CTO Vodafone), and Koen Vermeulen (Group CIO Orange). Our approach of standardizing processes in the Wholesale & Wholebuy area using the TM Forum standards was recognized as highly important by all parties.

In summary, since we began to engage more intensively with the TM Forum standards a good two years ago and developed special tools with the Xyna TMF Tools to easily and cleanly map open APIs with Xyna, this year's conference has been the highlight of this collaboration so far.

We are already looking forward to a possible Phase 3 of the Broadband Catalyst. But there are also other topics in the TM Forum, particularly in the area of autonomous networks, that we find exciting. Perhaps completely new ideas will emerge in the coming months that we want to actively collaborate on. It remains exciting.

Xygelei & Outlook on Xyna 10.5

At the end of the first half of the year, after various workshops at home and abroad, trade fairs, and conference visits, the GIP team met as usual at the Alte Ziegelei (internally renamed Xygelei some time ago...) in Mainz: for a relaxed exchange, a look back, and a look ahead.

Alexander and Philipp reviewed some highlights from the last few stops... and important topics in Xyna product development are coming up.

With Xyna 10.5 (released in early October), we are stabilizing and completing some of the approaches we've seen in initial versions of the platform in recent months:

  • Improvements and new features for OAS/TMF applications
  • Optimized user interface and support for additional keywords in the YANG importer
  • Enhanced audits in the Xyna Monitor for specific situations when interacting with partner applications
  • Version 2.0 of the Git Integration App, in which we incorporated a lot of feedback from the projects

If you can't wait until then: the current Xyna version 10.4.0.3 is available at the usual locations on GitHub and Dockerhub.
